Blueprint 2 Career

KNOW YOURSELF / EXPLORE YOUR PATH / BUILD YOUR FUTURE

Blueprint 2 Career (B2C) is a three-year college and career readiness initiative that gives middle school students structured, hands-on exposure to skilled trades, alongside direct contact with industry professionals, years before they ever set foot in a high school Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.

Students move from self-discovery in 6th grade to trade exploration in 7th grade to hands-on trade experience in 8th grade, leaving middle school with a personalized plan, a portfolio, connecting who they are to a real, viable career path.

01

The Pathway

Three grades. Three stages. One continuous line from self‑discovery to a credential‑aligned pathway.

THREE‑YEAR SCOPE & SEQUENCE, GRADES 6–8
Stage 1 6TH GRADE

Know Yourself

Self-discovery work built around strengths, interests, and communication style, structured self-assessment tools that help students understand who they are before they choose a path.

Stage 2 7TH GRADE

Explore Your Path

Direct exposure to skilled trades through industry professionals, mentors, and hands-on resources, connecting a student's interests to the real people doing the work.

Stage 3 8TH GRADE

Build Your Future

Hands-on experience at a partner training facility, adapted from established industry training curriculums and aligned practices for a middle school audience. Students also gain exposure to additional trades at partner sites.

→ CONTINUES INTO High school CTE & trade programs, and on to apprenticeship, industry credentials, further education, or employment.

Mission & Vision

Why we exist, and where we're headed.

Blueprint 2 Career exists to expand access to career exploration, workforce development, mentorship, education, and real-world learning opportunities for the younger generation.

We help young people discover who they are, explore what is possible, and build a pathway toward a meaningful future.

Our Vision

We envision communities where every young person has the exposure, relationships, resources, and opportunities necessary to turn their strengths into a meaningful education, career, and life pathway.

03

Why It Matters

A whole-student approach, not just a trades pipeline.

Most students don't encounter a real trade professional, a real jobsite, or a real conversation about what the trades can offer until high school, if at all. Blueprint 2 Career provides that exposure years earlier, while students are still forming their sense of who they are and what they're capable of.

Social-emotional learning is integrated into the program throughout the curriculum. That includes partnering with a mental health agency to provide support for students and their families throughout the three-year arc.

By the time a student reaches high school, they're familiar with the trades. They know themselves better, they've built real relationships with professionals already working in the field, they've put in actual hands-on hours, and they walk into CTE and trade programs with a running start.

We are piloting with a single cohort to keep the first year focused, to prove the model works, refine the curriculum, and build the partnerships needed to grow.

Core Values

What guides every decision we make.

Value 01

Access

Every child deserves the chance to explore any career path they're curious about.

Value 02

Exposure

Young people can choose pathways they've been given the exposure and opportunity to experience.

Value 03

Self-Discovery

Career exploration should begin with understanding one's strengths, interests, talents, and communication style.

Value 04

Opportunity

Exposure must eventually lead to real experiences, credentials, internships, employment, and economic mobility.

Value 05

Partnership

Schools cannot do this work alone. Families, employers, trades, community organizations, higher education, and government all have a role.

Value 06

Equity

We intentionally remove barriers that prevent the younger generation from having access to high-quality career-connected opportunities.

What your gift does: every contribution funds a specific piece of the pilot — self-discovery curriculum, industry mentors, hands-on trade exposure, transportation, and student materials — so your investment turns directly into hours a student spends discovering a real career path. In return, partners at the Career Exploration level and above are recognized on our website and materials, receive regular updates on cohort outcomes, and are invited to the student showcase where you can meet the young people your support helped reach.
